This cinematic title sequence was created as part of the Bad Decisions Studio – Ultimate Unreal Engine Course, where participants were challenged to craft a complete short film scene using Unreal Engine. The story revolves around a rivalry between two brothers, a battle for the throne and power that explores ambition, betrayal, and legacy.

About the project

Goal

The goal of this project was to translate an emotional story of rivalry and ambition into a cinematic experience, a visual retelling of two brothers in 16th-century Japan, locked in a battle for power, legacy, and identity. Every element, from lighting and color palette to camera movement and pacing, was designed to highlight their contrasting natures: the elder brother, destined for the throne and symbolized by light, versus the younger, consumed by shadows of envy.

Beyond storytelling, the project aimed to apply and refine the skills learned throughout the Unreal Engine course, from environment building and 3D animation to composition, mood creation, and sound design while maintaining a strong sense of direction and visual language. The outcome was a cinematic sequence that not only captured the essence of their conflict but also earned a place among the Top 5 submissions in the course showcase.
